Let's Care for Elephants and Visit Doi Inthanon!

★★★★★★★★★★

5.0

Long, but great day! Tony was wonderful!

The drive up to the elephant park made me feel a bit car sick, so that made the start of the day a bit rough and it was an interesting walk back to where the elephants were, none of these issues were anyone's fault. Getting to experience the elephants was an amazing experience! Our guide, Tony, is friendly, knowledgeable, and speaks very fluent English, so communication was never an issue. After our lunch, we headed out with our driver and Tony, up to the king & queen pagodas. Again, it wasn't anyone's fault, but the main reason to drive up there is for the beautiful view and lovely garden setting, but when we got up there, it was very, very foggy (like walking through a cloud!) And you could barely see the outline of the buildings! That was disappointing, but we still had a nice visit because Tony had some monk training and shared a lot of his knowledge and insight. I'm a bit of a nerd so I soaked it all up, and asked lots of questions. : ) neither myself, nor my husband are in very good shape, and were a bit tired from the long (but wonderful) morning, so Tony said instead of the 2 hour trek that we would have had, perhaps we'd like to visit a beautiful waterfall instead, and that was one of the highlights for my husband. It is not a touristy area at all, but beautiful! It was the perfect stop before heading back to into the city.
